KK McKinney started his second game of the 2016 season Friday night for the Yellow Jacket Baseball team. After a rocky first start of the year against Page, McKinney was looking to bounce back in a positive way. The Sophomore did not disappoint the Yellow Jacket fans in the crowd as he pitched a 1 hit, complete game shutout while throwing striking out 14 McEwen batters threw his 7 innings of work in the 1-0 victory for the Yellow Jackets.
Max Mangrum provided the only offense of the game as he singled in the 4th inning to bring home teammate Dillion Collier. Collier lead the way hitting for the Jackets with a single and double on the day.
Coach Matt Putnam picked up his 1st win as the Head Coach of the Yellow Jackets. He replaced his father, Curtis Putnam, who lead the Yellow Jacket program for over 25 plus years.
The Jackets move to 1-5 on the season as the team begins to focus on district play as they open up an important 2 game series with Hickman Co. on Monday at Fairview. First pitch is scheduled for 6.
